Changing your dial-up phone number
Windows Vista
If you have a dialup icon on your desktop, it's really
easy to change your dial-up number. The next time you double-click on the
icon, before you hit the Dial button, just change the number.
Then change the user name, adding "@turbonet.com" to the end. If
your old number was 882-8768, here is your new number:
If you don't have a dial-up icon on the desktop, go to the Start button and click on Control Panel. (If you don't see Control Panel, click on Settings, then Control Panel). (If there are only about ten icons listed, click on Classic View in the upper left.)
Double-click on the Network and Sharing Center icon. Then Manage Network Connections on the left hand panel.
Double-click on The Cactus TurboNet icon. (Some people called this icon something else, such as "My Connection, "Connection to 216-1000" or just "TurboNet".) Change the phone number in the Dial box, then click the Dial button. You must (this time only) dial from here so it will save the new phone number (it will ask you if you want to make the change permanent. Say "yes"). WHEN YOU'RE THROUGH, MAKE SURE YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT DIALING A "1"!!!
Local usernames also change. If it was "myname", then it becomes "myname@turbonet.com".
