Setting up Outlook Express 5 to Leave Mail on the Server

1. Run Outlook Express.
2. Click on the "Tools" menu, and pick "Accounts".
3. Click the "Mail" tab.  You should get a screen like the one below.
4. Click the "Properties" button, then the "Advanced" tab.  You should get a screen like the one below.
5. Check the box to leave a copy of messages on server.  Be SURE to also check the box to Remove from server after 5 days.  You can adjust the number of days, of course.
6. Also check the box to Remove from server when deleted from "Deleted Items".  This does not remove them when you delete from the IN mailbox, but only when you delete from the Deleted Items mailbox.  But remember that it's possible to set Outlook Express to empty the Deleted Items mailbox when you exit Outlook Express.  To check this, Go to the Tools menu and click Options.  Click the Maintenance tab.
