Create a database (db) file for the user's domain in the var/names folder
of the primary name server.
Go to the primary DNS server computer (Cypher)
Click on the "shortcut to named boot" folder
Double-click on "websites.txt".
Save as db.xxx.com.txt (or .net or .org)
replace all DOMAIN with XXX
Change the sequence number. Use the ASCII date and
"01" for the first time you've changed that file today, etc.
Save it.
Add the domain to the named.boot file of the primary DNS server and reload
the DNS server's database
Go to the named.boot file
Add a line above "provide reverse..." near the bottom
Run the DNS controller and reload the databases.
Add the domain to the named.boot file of the secondary DNS server and
reload the DNS server's database. See the above step.
As a check: go to a command prompt on the secondary server and type
"nslookup www.xxx.com"
Set up the TurboNet database
Enter the billing information in the TurboNet database. Don't forget
the domain registration bill.
Add the username and password.
Create the directory.
Create a web server for the account
On Bugs or other web server, use the Internet Service Manager
Right-click on "Bugs"
Create a new web site. Use xxxx.com for the Host Header.
Click Properties and add the other forms of the domain.
Go to the management console. Right-click on the Website, tasks,
configure server extensions
Next.
Under mail server, change the middle address, the one to notify of
problems, to the web administrator's real email address.
Finish.
Check to make sure the virtual directory: _vti_bin exists for
that site. Sometimes FrontPage fails to create it.
Go to the Web Server (Sam) and right-click on "My Computer, choose
"manage". Pull up the User Manager. Add the
user. Check "User cannot change password". "Password never
expires". Un-check all else.
Go to the Web Server (Sam) and right-click on "My Computer, choose
"manage". Pull up the Groups Manager. Add the user to the
Administrator group for that web site.
If you add 2002 server extensions, go to the server administrator for
2002 and
Add user or
group name (For example, DOMAIN\name) for the user.
(Plus only) If wanted, log into the Virtual Administration for the server you just created and
create a user account for whoever is going to be viewing the statistics -
usually the same username and password as the FTP.
Go to All Configured Servers
Server Admin
User management
add new user. (Just the username and password - leave other
fields blank.)
Remove all public permissions for the new stats server and give them to
the user.
Go to user permissions
Unclick all of everyone and click all of xxx.
Create a virtual email domain if needed.
email the user his instructions.
Make sure the billing in the TurboNet database is correct.
To import a site, create an empty web and use the import wizard.
