Adding a Web Plus Active Site

  1. Submit the domain information on the Internet, if applicable.
    1. Go to https://rr-n1-tor.opensrs.net/~vpop/resellers/index.cgi.
    2. login:  cactus
    3. password is weird.
    4. Place order manually, ID # 9989995
    5. password for site is same as car doors.
  2. Set up the TurboNet database
    1. Enter the billing information in the TurboNet database.  Don't forget the domain registration bill. 
    2. Add the username and password.
  3. Add the domain to the named.boot file of the DNS servers and reload the DNS server's database
    1. Pull up MS Access - George/data/NamedBoot.mdb
    2. Add a line for the new domain.  Save and exit.
    3. Go to George and run both the Generate DNS and Copy DNS programs.
  4. Create a database (db) file for the user's domain in the var/names folder of the primary name server.
    1. Go to the primary DNS server computer (Cypher)
    2. Click on the "DNS Files" folder
    3. Double-click on "websites.txt".
    4. Save as db.xxx.com.txt (or .net or .org)
    5. replace all DOMAIN with XXX
    6. Change the sequence number.  Use the ASCII date and "01" for the first time you've changed that file today, etc.
    7. Save it.
    8. Run the DNS update program.
  5. Go to an FTP program and connect to the user.  This both tests and creates the directories.
  6. Create a web server for the account
    1. On Bugs or Sam or other web server, use the Internet Service Manager
    2. Right-click on "Bugs"
    3. Create a new web site.  Use xxxx.com for the Host Header.
    4. Right-click on the new entry and pick Properties.  Click the Properties to get the logfile name.  Write it on the signup sheet. 
    5. Right-click on the new entry and click the Advanced button.  Add another domain of the form www.xxxxx.com
  7. (Plus only) Log into the Global Administration of the Statistics Server by going to http://livestats.turbonet.com/server.htm.
  8. (Plus only) Create a new server giving it the IP address and location of the logfiles.
    1. Go to Advanced Create New Server
    2. name:  www.xxx.com
    3. ID name:  xxx
    4. under Local or UNC:  \\bugs\logfiles\W3svc...
    5. file template:  ex*.log
    6. every 1 hour
    7. Submit server
  9. (Plus only) If requested, log into the Virtual Administration for the server you just created and create a user account for whoever is going to be viewing the statistics - usually the same username and password as the FTP.
    1. Go to All Configured Servers
    2. Server Admin
    3. User management
    4. add new user.  (Just the username and password - leave other fields blank.)
    5. Remove all public permissions for the new stats server and give them to the user.
      1. Go to user permissions
      2. Unclick all of everyone and click all of xxx.
  10. Create a virtual mail domain if indicated.
  11. Email the user his instructions.
