Adding a Web Plus Active Site
- Submit the domain information on the Internet, if applicable.
- Go to https://rr-n1-tor.opensrs.net/~vpop/resellers/index.cgi.
- login: cactus
- password is weird.
- Place order manually, ID # 9989995
- password for site is same as car doors.
- Set up the TurboNet database
- Enter the billing information in the TurboNet database. Don't
forget the domain registration bill.
- Add the username and password.
- Add the domain to the named.boot file of the DNS servers and reload
the DNS server's database
- Pull up MS Access - George/data/NamedBoot.mdb
- Add a line for the new domain. Save and exit.
- Go to George and run both the Generate DNS and Copy DNS programs.
- Create a database (db) file for the user's domain in the var/names folder
of the primary name server.
- Go to the primary DNS server computer (Cypher)
- Click on the "DNS Files" folder
- Double-click on "websites.txt".
- Save as db.xxx.com.txt (or .net or .org)
- replace all DOMAIN with XXX
- Change the sequence number. Use the ASCII date and
"01" for the first time you've changed that file today, etc.
- Save it.
- Run the DNS update program.
- Go to an FTP program and connect to the user. This both tests and
creates the directories.
- Create a web server for the account
- On Bugs or Sam or other web server, use the Internet Service Manager
- Right-click on "Bugs"
- Create a new web site. Use xxxx.com for the Host Header.
- Right-click on the new entry and pick Properties. Click the
Properties to get the logfile name. Write it on the signup sheet.
- Right-click on the new entry and click the Advanced button. Add
another domain of the form www.xxxxx.com
- (Plus only) Log into the Global Administration of the Statistics Server by going to
http://livestats.turbonet.com/server.htm.
- (Plus only) Create a new server giving it the IP address and location of the logfiles.
- Go to Advanced Create New Server
- name: www.xxx.com
- ID name: xxx
- under Local or UNC: \\bugs\logfiles\W3svc...
- file template: ex*.log
- every 1 hour
- Submit server
- (Plus only) If requested, log into the Virtual Administration for the server you just created and
create a user account for whoever is going to be viewing the statistics -
usually the same username and password as the FTP.
- Go to All Configured Servers
- Server Admin
- User management
- add new user. (Just the username and password - leave other
fields blank.)
- Remove all public permissions for the new stats server and give them to
the user.
- Go to user permissions
- Unclick all of everyone and click all of xxx.
- Create a virtual mail domain if indicated.
- Email the user his instructions.
