Setting up PPPoE

1.  In the TurboNet program, fill out the form.

If it's billed collectively, be sure to fill out the Name and Address, etc. fields.  If the person gets a separate bill, it's not necessary to fill them out here.  Be sure to check the PPPoE box - it's not on by default.

2.  Windows XP.  On the person's computer set up PPPoE.  It's done almost the same way a dial-up is created.

• Windows XP:  Start, Control Panel, Network Connections (you may have to switch to Classic View or go through Network and Internet to get to Network Connections). 
• Click on Create a New Connection.  Next.
• Set up my connection manually, Next.
• Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password.  Next, 
• ISP name is TurboNet (this is not critical).  Next.  Enter the username and password.
• You'll probably want to put a shortcut on the desktop, then Finish.

3.  Windows Vista.  On the person's computer set up PPPoE.  It's done almost the same way a dial-up is created.

• Start, Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center (you may have to switch to Classic View or go through Network and Internet to get to Network and Sharing). 
• Click on Set up a Connection or Network.
• Click on Connect to the the Internet,  Next.
• Create a New Connection..
• Broadband PPPoE.  Next.
• Enter the username and password.  Connection name is Cactus Computer.
• Check Allow other People.... unless you have a reason not to.
• Click the Connect button.  At this point it will try to connect.  If it fails (for instance, because your cable is unplugged or your wireless is not yet connected) choose Set up the connection anyway.
• You'll probably want to put a shortcut on the desktop.  To do this, choose Manage Network Connections on the left, then right-click on the Cactus Computer and create a shortcut.

4.  Mac OS X  On the person's computer set up PPPoE.

Click the Apple icon. Choose System Preferences

Click Network

Choose New Location... Under Location. Click Next

Type a name for your new location, such as: MyScrambledName Click OK.

Choose Buit-in Ethernet under Show.

Click the PPPoE tab.  The Service Provider is TurboNet. In the Account Name: field type your username. In the password field fill your password Click Apply Now.

Click the TCP/IP tab. Choose Using PPP under Configure. Type 216.98.224.1 and 216.98.224.3  in the field: DNS Servers:. Type turbonet.com in the field: Search Domains:. Click the button: Apply Now.

Step
Click the network icon from the top-right corner of the your screen. Click Connect/ Disconnect.

PPPoE over Wireless for Mac's

Go into the system preferences, networking, make a new location, name it Cactus.  Once you've got that location picked, tell it you want to use the Airport, and see if there's a PPPoE tab.  If it's there, you can proceed as above.  Version 10.4.10 is able to do this.  We don't know what the earliest compatible version is.

5.  To configure PPPoE settings on your Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:

1. Move to the System section of the Xbox Dashboard.
2. Select Network Settings.
3. Select Edit Settings.
4. On the Additional Settings tab, select PPPoE Settings.
5. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the PPPoE information that was provided to you by your ISP.
6. Select Done.
7. Select Apply and Test when you are prompted to do this.
