The advantage of our 5 GHz Mesh is its greater reliability than traditional wireless systems. Normally, a wireless radio can connect to only one access point to the Internet and if that access point becomes unavailable (due to inclement weather like thunder storms) your connection is lost. But in a Mesh, your radio will seek out alternate access points and try to re-establish your connection, keeping you on the Internet when other systems would fail.
With traditional 2.4GHz wireless, radios connected to an access point do not take turns; several may try to transmit at the same time. This causes collisions and slows down the access point. During busy times or if someone is running a file sharing program like Bit Torrent, this can bring the access point to its knees as the client radios are constantly stepping on each other causing data to be lost in transmission. Our 5 GHz Mesh uses a protocol called TDD that requires that all of the radios connected to an access point take turns, providing greater reliability and smooth flow during busy times.

* A $50.00 installation fee is required for all outdoor radios and a $50 deposit is required of all indoor radios, both of which remain the property of Cactus International, Inc. The installation includes antenna, wireless radio, cabling (up to 100 ft), POE adaptor, power supply, mounting equipment and professional installation. The installation of computers and other hardware is not included and may be charged extra.
